Professor Chomchin Chantaraskul, PhD
Chairman of the University Council

Greetings from the President of UBU

It is my pleasure to welcome you to Ubon Ratchathani University (UBU).

Since its establishment in 1990, UBU has grown steadily into a dynamic institution dedicated to academic excellence and the sustainable development of Thailand and the region — particularly the southern part of northeastern Thailand, an area of extraordinary cultural richness, historical depth, and untapped potential.

In 2025, UBU achieved a significant milestone by transitioning to autonomous public university status, marking a new chapter in the institution's ability to innovate, respond to societal needs, and pursue its vision with greater agility and purpose.

UBU maintains active collaborations with international institutions through joint research, collaborative projects, and student and faculty exchange programs. The university continues to play a meaningful role in the development of the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) and is firmly committed to its vision of becoming a leading university in ASEAN — one that enhances the quality of life for society.

Our academic offerings span a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs, with particular strengths in Thai and GMS-related fields alongside traditional disciplines. All programs are delivered on a campus that harmoniously blends a welcoming natural environment with modern facilities, creating a safe and inspiring space for learning and growth.

On behalf of our faculty, staff, and students, I warmly welcome you to UBU.

Associate Professor Chutinun Prasitpuriprecha, PhD
